Since gaining international attention after being named as BBC Radio 1’s Introducing Artist of the Week back in March 2017, Riscas have quickly marked themselves out as ones to watch. Taking influence from affable indie icons Two Door Cinema Club, The 1975 and noughties indie pop star Jack Peñate, their first single ‘Panic like Tom’ became an instant hit, charting 4th on Spotify’s top UK Viral charts and becoming a staple on Spotify’s ‘Indie List’ playlist, resulting in over 1,500,000 streams in less than a year. They currently average an impressive 80,000 – 95,000 monthly listeners on Spotify (the majority of traffic being from London, New York, Los Angeles, Singapore and Manchester).
Riscas spent 2017 wisely, selling out three Birmingham hometown shows, aswell as headlining the BBC Introducing stage at Lakefest. They also played the Big Top stage at Wychwood Festival via BBC Introducing and appeared on the main stages of Jimmy’s Festival & Vale Festival. Narrowing missing out on a place through BBC Introducing for Glastonbury, the band has supported the likes of Childhood, Pale Waves, Airways, The Night Café, Bloxx, Hyde Tide and soon to be Sam Fender.
The four piece have entered 2018 on a high, smashing expectations of their first mini UK tour, selling out shows in Birmingham, Manchester & London. They’ve recently bagged a slot at Live at Leeds Festival later this year proving once again that Riscas are definitely ones to keep an eye on for 2018!
